Conditions

This page will be used to discuss conditions that are managed
at the Montpelier Chiropractic Center...Many people do not
understand the wide range of therapies and conditions that can
be treated with chiropractic care, and this page is designed to
help you understand.
Back Pain:  A chiropractors education focuses on the
evaluation and treatment of nerve, muscle, and joint irritation,
specifically that which involves the spine.
Headaches:  Although there are several different types of
headaches with a wide variety of causes, a doctor of
chiropractic is trained to evaluate the neck and head region to
determine the specific problem.  The treatment is focused on
removing the "disturbance" -- frequently muscle tension and
nerve irritation.
Foot Pain:  Of special interest to Dr. Schlade, the function of
the foot and ankle joints, muscles, and surrounding tissues can
influence the integrity of the entire body.  Although not treated
by all chiropractors, Dr. Schlade has spent significant time in
post-graduate work studying the physiology of the feet.
Sciatica:  Impingement or irritation of the sciatic nerve can
cause pain, burning, numbness, and/or ache into the buttock,
thigh, and leg.  If the cause of the irritation is removed, the
symptoms will be relieved.  There are different areas where
irritation can occur, and a proper evaluation is necessary for
the correct treatment protocol.
Fibromyalgia:  A syndrome with a wide variety of causes,
fibromyalgia causes widespread discomfort and frequently is
associated with sleep disorders, fatigue, and depression.  A
wide scope of therapies is generally needed for significant
relief.
Arthritis:  The most common condition treated in our office is
degenerative changes in the joints, most commonly known as
arthritis.  Although arthritis is generally irreversible (as
diagnosed with x-rays), it can be "managed" so that it is not
debilitating.
Digestive Issues:  Many mild conditions involving the
digestive tract can be managed using diet changes, natural
supplements, and nerve stimulation/relaxation techniques (via
an adjustment).  Natural care for these ailments work best
during the early stages of the "disease".
